Do you set goals for yourself? If so, how often?

It’s the little things…

One thing I did to keep me motivated to work out during the month of July was to write down my workout each day and put a sticker on the calendar for those days. Yes, I’m sure it sounds silly & maybe childish. But after I started I was so excited and wanted to fill up that calendar!

I used some free {sesame street} stickers I randomly got in the mail {side note: when you have a baby, you somehow get lots of random things in the mail!}. I just keep a sheet of stickers clipped to the back of my calendar.

I printed each month through the end of the year, so when August 1st came I was ready for a new month!

What do you do to keep yourself motivated to get those workouts in or meet your workout goals?

July Goals Recap

Its been a while since I last posted. But don’t think that means I was slacking off! Nope, I buckled down and I’m proud of what I accomplished in the month of July.

Lets recap those goals I set!

1. workout 5 days/week – I didn’t quite make this goal. The week of July 23rd I got the stomach bug and was out of commission for 2 days & then we went to Chicago for 3 days and I only worked out once that week. BUT…the other 2 1/2  weeks I was right on track got in my workout 5 days/week!

2. attend every WW meeting – Check! This was a piece of cake for me…or should I say a piece of fruit! Winking smile Went to every meeting last month!

3. Try 2 new recipes – Check! I tried two new recipes from emilybites.com {LOVE her blog!} – Cheesy Taco Pasta & Bubble Up Enchilada {with black beans}. Yes I’ve had Bubble Up enchiladas many a time, but never with black beans, so I’m counting that!

4. weigh 167 by 7.31.12 {lose 9 lbs}Didn’t quite hit this goal, but I am SO proud to say that I did make it to 168.6 by the end of the month, so excited to say goodbye to those 170s. I know that losing 9 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks was a lofty goal. I feel that I pushed myself and I’m proud of those 7.4lbs!Pinned Image(source: pinterest)

Remember my ultimate goal from my “Updates” post a few weeks ago? I want to be 150lbs by November 1st. So if you crunch the numbers from where I’m at now, that’s 13 weeks to lose 18.6lbs, average of 1.43lbs/week. Totally doable!

I'm going to continue to push myself.

Until this last week I was just estimating my daily intake in my head(points/calories), but Sunday I started tracking EVERYTHING {app on my blackberry} and I can tell what a difference it’s made! Just goes to show tracking is key!

Lastly, but certainly not least, I have to thank you guys for kind words and sweet comments on my post requesting your support! This blog world is an amazing tool & I’m so thankful for all of you!

Updates

Happy Tuesday friends! I have a few things to update ya'll on. I didn't make my goal of being 165lbs by Adelyn's 1st birthday. I made it to 171lbs, so close! Her birthday was a turning point, something changed in me and I got lazy {again}. The scale has gradually been creeping up over the weeks, but now with the inspiration of my husband I'm back in the game!

Monday was day 1 {again} for me! I have set my goal. I want to be 150lbs by November 1st. Currently I am 176lbs. Do the math: that's 26lbs in 16 weeks, average of 1.62lbs/week. Doable? I think so! A tough goal to meet? Absolutely! I'm going to push myself. I finished nursing Adelyn last month, so I don't have to worry that I'm taking in enough calories to produce enough milk for her.

I set a few goals to keep me focused this month. Check 'em out!

July Goals

1. workout 5 days/week
2. attend every WW meeting
3. Try 2 new recipes
4. weigh 167 by 7.31.12 {lose 9 lbs}

I looked back at when I first started the blog. I was so strict with myself, I took pictures of my eats, I worked out all the time, and I lost 23.5lbs in 2 months! Now I know at that point I'm sure it came off faster because I had much more to lose, but still that is amazing! I'm going to do it again!

Here's where you guys come in! Looking back when I lost weight the first time ya'll were such an encouragement and inspiration to me. The blog world was and still is such an integral piece of my success. Will you do me a favor and support me in this goal {again}?

I’m Branching Out

I have never really liked fish, I may have eaten fish sticks when I was little {I don’t think they count}, but I’m just not a fish person…no matter how you cook it. My Dad has been telling me over and over about this fish that he eats 2-3 times/week and how good it is. He said it didn’t have that “fishy” taste and I needed to give it a try.

So finally I did! The fish I tried is called swai. I picked them up in my grocers freezer section next to the meat counter. They are even initially packaged within a re-sealable package! {I’m easily impressed}IMG_2042

Not only were they nicely packaged, but check out these nutrition facts! They are packed with protein, no carbs, hardly any fat, and only 2 points plus per 4oz fillet!

IMG_2044

I squeezed a little bit of lemon juice on, a dash of pepper, and wrapped it in some tin foil and on the grill it went. IMG_2047

Verdict: I LOVED it! Dad was right! {thanks dad} Didn’t have a fish flavor at all, so delicious, and I didn’t even need tartar sauce!

Did you notice that other green stuff on my plate? I also had another new try that same night, kale chips! I’ve seen these all over blogs, facebook, pinterest, etc for a long time and I finally tried them.

Verdict: The first taste is salty and crunchy like a chip{I was excited at first}, but they left a horrible after taste in my mouth {almost bitter}. Has this happened to anyone else? All I did to cook it was a bit of olive oil and salt and then baked it. Help!

I would love to hear from you guys! What is a food that you’ve branched out & tried lately?

Tomorrow is WI day, wish me luck! {I worked out twice today…go me!}

Progress

It took me only took me 10+ months, but I’m down 10lbs and that means progress pictures! Yes 10 months is a long time to only lose 10lbs, but like I mentioned in my “Down to Business” post: this is my journey, everything has led up to this point, I can’t change the past, the future is mine! I promise it won’t be another 10 months for the next 10 lbs! (keep in mind that my July ‘11 pictures are only 2 1/2 weeks post partum)

So without further ado, here are my progress pictures!Blog2

A few comments: I need to get some sun, I can see the changes in my love handles & stomach (still a ways to go though), and I really need to work on my things & ham strings!

I do have a confession: I didn’t post the back shot in my original “before” pictures, I was embarrassed. I’m still not pleased with what I see, but I think posting it will give me even more motivation to work harder towards my goal.

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Down to Business

Hello blog friends!

I figured it is finally time to give ya’ll {I’m not southern, but I just like to say ya’ll} an update and a few facts as to what I’ve been up to!
  • I’ve been back to my week Weight Watcher meetings since April 26th
  • In two weeks I’ve lost 2lbs.
  • Over the past 2 weeks I have tracked EVERYTHING
  • I have not exercised…
  • Until 2 days ago, I joined a lunch hour class at work and got my butt kicked {in a good way}
  • I took my measurements the 1st of the this month. The number on the scale is just that…a number.
  • Hoping for another good loss this Thursday at WW!
Adelyn’s 1st birthday isn’t too far away and I want to be as close to my pre baby weight as I can. I’m 12.8 lbs from my pre baby weight and it’s a little less than 6 weeks from today. I AM COMMITTED!!! I WILL DO THIS!

I started to get down on myself that I’ve taken a whole year to lose my baby weight, but that does no good for me. This is my journey, everything has led up to this point, I can’t change the past, the future is mine! Look out blog friends this Mama is getting down to business!

And just so I don’t have a picture-less post here are a pair of goal pants. They are size 10 and I wore them in May 2009 to my cousin’s baby shower and they weren’t the least bit tight. Notice I have quite a few inches to go…but I’ll be in these in no time!IMG_2005(and yes I know you can see my B&W underwear)
