I have never really liked fish, I may have eaten fish sticks when I was little {I don’t think they count}, but I’m just not a fish person…no matter how you cook it. My Dad has been telling me over and over about this fish that he eats 2-3 times/week and how good it is. He said it didn’t have that “fishy” taste and I needed to give it a try.
So finally I did! The fish I tried is called swai. I picked them up in my grocers freezer section next to the meat counter. They are even initially packaged within a re-sealable package! {I’m easily impressed}
Not only were they nicely packaged, but check out these nutrition facts! They are packed with protein, no carbs, hardly any fat, and only 2 points plus per 4oz fillet!
I squeezed a little bit of lemon juice on, a dash of pepper, and wrapped it in some tin foil and on the grill it went.
Verdict: I LOVED it! Dad was right! {thanks dad} Didn’t have a fish flavor at all, so delicious, and I didn’t even need tartar sauce!
Did you notice that other green stuff on my plate? I also had another new try that same night, kale chips! I’ve seen these all over blogs, facebook, pinterest, etc for a long time and I finally tried them.
Verdict: The first taste is salty and crunchy like a chip{I was excited at first}, but they left a horrible after taste in my mouth {almost bitter}. Has this happened to anyone else? All I did to cook it was a bit of olive oil and salt and then baked it. Help!
I would love to hear from you guys! What is a food that you’ve branched out & tried lately?
Tomorrow is WI day, wish me luck! {I worked out twice today…go me!}

Try tilapia. It's another fish that isn't fishy, and is very healthy. Although if you've found one you love then that's great. I'd eat fish more often, but my kids hate it and it's just a pain to be cooking multiple meals.
You go girl!! You make me want to try it now...Mark eats tilapia every night and I don't know how he does it. He said that's not so fishy either but I just can't bring myself to trying it. Now that you've done it and fully approve, I may have to try it!!:)
I like the fact that fish is low in points for Weight Watchers. We eat tilapia about once a week. I used to eat Cod a lot, but once I broke out in hives, I've avoided it ever since.
I've also never been a huge fan of Salmon, but I found some at Aldi's and my hubby and I really like that with some lemon pepper seasoning on it.
My Mom made Kale chips the other day and I had to spit it out. They were disgusting. I'm not sure there is any way to make Kale taste good!!
I picked up some Swai at the Hy Vee Fish deli a while back. We loved it. It's a very good tasting fish.
I'm not sure what happened with your kale chips? You know how I love them!!! lol. Maybe there was something wrong with the kale? I say give it ONE more try!
I eat a lot of tilapia and love it. I sprinkle it with Old Bay to give it some extra flavor. I have seen Swai in the freezer section so I'll have to give that a try as well.
I'm glad and excited for you, that you are now branching out to fish. Good source of fatty acids. Well done for trying it. I think your dad is proud of you.
Class. Let me see if the dish is available in India. I have heard that fish contains more healthy protein than meat and your dish looks very delicious.
We eat a lot of tilapia in our house. I like it because it's very mild as well. I'll have to look for Swai.
I've been wanting to try Kale chips,but I haven't taken the leap yet. I'll be interested to see if you get any good tips. :)
tilapia is a fave at a house with 2 out of 3 being fish haters also Sole if you can find it can be very easy on the palate.
Seasoning keeps fish interesting but so many being high in sodium i find it nice if you have a herb garden or can get some nice fresh herbs and thow some of your fav's in with that tin foil package with a little evoo
