A Determined Darci!

I woke up determined today! Determined to not snack on everything in sight and determined to have a SUPER productive day so I could enjoy my evening with my man!

I sliced up 1 1/2c strawberries & a small banana along side some toast w/a smudge of jelly for 3 points to started my day out!DSC06892 DSC06893

The determination started to give way and I was so tempted to walk 3 offices down to the stash of "office candy", but I didn't give in. I drank a bunch of water and decided to go for my morning snack earlier than normal.

It was the usual mix of 1 1/2 c strawberries, 1/4 grape nuts, and ww vanilla yogurt for 3 points, but today you get to see it all mixed up!! Mmmm good! :)DSC06894

Lunch was leftovers, creamy baked chicken! But just as good as last night! My serving was 6 points. DSC06895

I got a lot done at work this afternoon. I feel like things are starting to get piled up with everything we have to do to get ready for the 2010-2011 school year so I put in a little extra time this evening.

After work I wasn’t really feeling like going for a run, but Kyle changed my mind! And we got in over 3 miles!DSC06897

For supper tonight we had pizza. I purchased this pizza through a fund raiser at work from one of the sports teams. Unfortunately it was SO big that it didn’t fit in my FULL freezer so we had to get it eaten this week! Check out how it takes over my stovetop! DSC06898

I had a small slice (1/12 pizza) with some steamed veggies for 6 points. DSC06899

WEDNESDAY’S STATS

POINTS = 18/23
WEEKLY ALLOWANCE POINTS = 5 used/30 remaining
ACTIVITY POINTS EARNED =   4 today/4 week
WATER = 88 oz
EXERCISE = 31 minute run

A few days ago I touched on the fact that you guys are always more than welcome to “Ask Me Anything” so here are a few answers to some questions I got!

QUESTIONS ANSWERED!

Question: What keeps you motivated? And how do you have the energy? I feel like I have no energy, by the time I get off work.

I try to keep my ultimate goal in mind to keep me motivated and I think that is key with weight loss/fitness. Ultimately I want to be healthier and feel better in my own skin and I know to get there I need to, for example, get this workout in or keep my fridge stocked with healthy options! And we are all human and sometimes lose sight of that ultimate goal or sometimes it seems so far away you want to give up. But giving up doesn’t get you anywhere!

And for the 2nd part of your question about having no energy after work…well I’ve found that if I come home I need to start in on supper right away, if I don’t I will plop down in the front of the computer or TV and that just pushes everything back! So I get to supper right away and then whatever other things I have on my agenda (exercise or cleaning) for that night and then if I get those things done then I can have some “me” time.

Question: Do you have any goals/plans in the future? You've ran in races with Kyle. Do you guys have anything planned next?

That’s a BIG question! I have lots of goals/plans for the future, but weight loss & fitness wise I’m still working on meeting my goal weight. I would really like to get to 150lbs. Running wise Kyle & I are currently training for a 20K in early June. We will probably run a few other 5K’s throughout the summer as well. I hope to run the same half marathon that '>I ran last October and get a better time! And that is about it for weight loss/fitness goals!

Question: I've always wondered what you teach? I'm getting my bachelors in English and I'm wondering if I'll be able to teach non-transfer classes at a community college. Is that what you do or do you have your masters?

I am teaching Computerized Accounting. It is the first college course that I’m teaching. I have my Bachelors degree in Accounting and since it is not an upper level class and I am ok to teach it. Technically I think it depends on the institution on whether or not you could teach with just your Bachelors. If I wanted to teach full time I would have to get my Masters. A lot of people are really encouraging me to do that, but I didn’t love school too much when I was there (I wasn’t a bad student, just didn’t love it), it costs a lot of money, and Kyle (my husband) is in school right now too!! I already work at the college where I teach and so I had an “in” there and the person who “hired” me to do it is my former accounting advisor and she LOVED me, so that didn’t hurt either!

And lastly, make sure to click on “About Me” at the top of the page! I finally got it posted after 17+ months of having a blog!!

If you teach anything related to SAP, I'm an expert in that software. I used to be the Director of Financial Systems for a Fortune 500. Computerized accounting, now that is the stuff dreams and excitement is made of!

Very cool that you went into teaching...perhaps something I'll do one day. Very rewarding.

I love the Q&A! It's always fun to learn more about people. I love your plan for staying motivated. I actually lay out my gym clothes before I leave for work. That way, when I get home after a long day of work, I don't ahve to think about it. I just put on my clothes and get out of the house! That keeps me motivated.

I noticed you had a question about the GoodBelly nutritional information. I posted it on today's blog post. :)

I worked in Financial Systems, too! And I took Computerized Accounting, but I suspect you weren't born then. :)

I like your comments on your overall goal of being healthy and feeling good in your own skin. Doing the exercise and focusing on (mostly) healthy eats can help us attain that feeling even before we get to our goal weight. Way to go!

Darci,
Thank you for being such an inspiration! I love your blog! Quick question--you talk about mixing protein powder in your smoothies...can you tell me what kind? I am a BIG texture person-is it gritty? Can you taste it? I need something to help boost the protein as I am not a big meat eater. Thank you!!
